PERSPECTIVE

DSCN1071

Clean blue air slicing with rapier-like accuracy

Environmental image of internal despair

Looking down on the dense forest of trees,

Repenting the wish to fly below and be buried in

their smothering thickness

Body and psyche stepping back

Imaging earlier, colorful days

Wrapping in younger, harsh and exciting memories

Visioning the freedom of wild geese

Clean blue air slicing with soothing truth

Environmental image of internal hopefulness

Looking down on the dense forest of trees,

Repenting the need to remain awhile apart from

their soothing thickness

A BAD MOOD

All the messages were there. She believed that.

Sitting on the table, staring defiantly, they dared her to make meaning of her life.

Two angels, one whole and celebrating, the other, broken and also celebrating. How could she possibly make meaning of that? No matter what the circumstances, celebrate? Sounded like a bit of crap to her. Obviously, she wasn’t in the mood for “cheerful” sayings.

A broken piece of pottery, scant enough to even tell what it was originally, but colorful enough to attract the eye. What of life’s meaning was it speaking? Find joy in the broken places of life? Okay, this time she avoided the bad language, but the message wasn’t working.

And the small blue jar of “Hopeful”. It dared her to open it and spread it’s cheer around. Here we go again – more platitudes. Clearly this was not a day to look on the bright side of life.

The compass beckoned it’s message of – what message? Running around in circles came quickly to mind. Maybe that’s what her life felt like currently. Circle after circle after circle. Going nowhere.

Marjorie stood up.

She knew exactly what she needed to do.

She went back to the bedroom and took a nap.
